About
About The Harrison Center
Commissioner Harrison saw a larger senior center in his home town of Little Rock, Ark., and picked out what he thought were the ideal features he could apply to Huntsville on a smaller scale. The result is a facility featuring a 160 seat event room, indoor pool, fitness center with walking track and instructors, computer lab, commercial kitchen, board/meeting room, outdoor putting green and a full line-up of activities ranging from Zumba exercise classes to sewing/quilting classes.
History
The BHC has many milestones and achievements since opening; however, non bigger than paying off the center's debt in 2025. Led by Commissioner Violet Edwards, The Bob Harrison Center held a celebratory mortgage-burning ceremony on Thursday June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth) to commemorate the retirement of the center's debt.
