  • Q: What are the BHC hours of operation?

    A: Members may come anytime between the hours of 7:30AM – 5PM Monday through Friday.


    The BHC is not open on the weekends except for scheduled rental events utilizing our facilities (Ballroom, Pavilion, Patio, etc.).

  • Q: What are the fees for membership?

    A: Membership is $180 per year (12 months). This fee may be paid on a quarterly basis ($45 every three months).

  • Q: Is there transportation to the BHC? How do I qualify?

    A: If you live in District 6, you qualify. Phone or drop by the desk at the BHC to get on the list.



    District 6 boundaries: Primarily North Central Urban District includes Alabama A&M. Primarily Governors Drive and University Drive, north on Rideout Road to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Bob Wade Lane to the north and then south along the Alabama A&M University ridge to Meridian Street to Holmes Avenue

  • Q: Can my organization/company meet at the BHC at no expense?

    A: No, our rooms are used for activities of our members. However, we rent rooms in accordance with our rental policy. Facility Rental. Non-profit organizations with proper certification receive a discount.



  • Q: How will I know when the BHC is closed?

    A:  The BHC is closed on the following holidays:


    New Year’s Day

    Martin Luther King Jr. / Robert E. Lee birthdays

    Presidents Day

    Memorial Day

    Juneteenth

    Independence Day

    Labor Day

    Columbus Day

    Veterans Day

    Thanksgiving Day/Friday after Thanksgiving

    Christmas Eve/Christmas Day     


    Inclement Weather Policy:


    During inclement weather the Harrison Center will be closed at the direction of the Madison County Commissioner, District 6. (If the Madison County courthouse is closed, the BHC will be closed.) Announcements will be made on local television and radio stations regarding closings that occur during the business day. If necessary, afterhours and weekend closings will be posted on the front and back doors of the BHC.        

  • Q: May I bring one or more guests?

    A: You are allowed to bring guests. They must sign a waiver each visit, pay $5.00 (cash or check) each visit, and be at least 40 years of age. There are no exceptions.



  • Q: I'm interested in getting a job at the BHC. How do I go about that?

    A: Currently, there are no jobs available. However, all employment is handled through the Madison County Department of Personnel. To view available jobs county-wide, go to the Madison County Employment site at http://www.madisoncountyal.gov/departments/personnel/madison-county-employment
